Garth Vader Banished

Hello anyone still around to check on yours truly. Sorry for the absence but the muse and motivation to write have been absent until today.

No surprise to hear Garth has been ejected from the Conservative Caucus in Ottawa.
He has been much to loose with his commentary and reactions. There is a difference between being opinionated and speaking frankly versus being controversial and unhelpful to your colleagues.

In any case this is not new to Federal Politics. Carolynn Bennett in 2005 comes to mind. In any case the speculation that he will go Green party may be rumoured because of his MPTV segment with Elizabeth May earlier this week.

I will be interested in seeing the Media take on Mr. Turner's banishment. He is good news fodder but methinks making him a martyr at the Blogger's Alter will be a bit much.

It's Almost Time!

Tomorrow I make one of my earliest New Brunswick pilgrimages to my beloved links. No not the cyber shit, the real and green pastoral kind. Petitcodiac Golf Course prepare yourself! The Two Jakes and yours truly will pound, feather, spin and curve the heir and successor to the featherie and the gutta-percha on your fairways and greens tomorrow.

I can see my Srixon UR sailing two hundred and eighty yards off the Driver and then being launched with my 56 degree Cleveland wedge to mere tap in range. Ahhh! Now if I can only dream a decent put.

I will be AWOL until the 24th since my Orlando Golf Holiday starts Friday. If anything I feel writing about happens I will share. Until then...............

Has Ignatieff got the Royal Jelly?

I watched Michael Ignatieff being interviewed by Craig Oliver on CTV this weekend. Craig was being crustier then usual. One might have even called him aggressive and pugnacious. Mr. Oliver repeatedly hammered him with questions resembling: Who are you to try and lead Canadians after being AWOL from the major issues and battles faced by your countrymen over the past 30 years? Followed up by your brilliance and academic credentials are not in question but where were you during two referendums in Quebec? Well Mr. Ignatieff was reasonable and thoughtful in his responses but Craig would not let up. Then the telling moment arrived. "What was in your Corn Flakes this morning Craig" he said with just the right amount of jocularity and indignation. Bam! Whop!

Perfectly delivered message and he in one sentence demonstrated another reason the Trudeau comparisons, while mostly inaccurate, do have some justification. This quick and colloquial rebuttal showed him unafraid to mix it up or to confront an aggressor but able to fight back with enough charm and wit to remain likeable and leader like.

I hope Liberals don't choose this guy. He may be the best they have right now.

Sad news for the Conservative Party today as Belinda officially declines to run for the Liberal Leadership. Awwww! We were so looking forward to the tag team of Brison and Stronach to infuse the race with Irony. The Globe reports here .

Gee! Maybe Belinda should join this group since her immense talents were obviously overshadowed by her one lacking ability.
